What is Nate's 3 Finger Piano Method?
A system for understanding 48 basic piano chords (in this case, 7th chords), where you leave out the fifth, play the root in the left hand, and you find the 7th and 3rd of the chord based on memorizing the interval of a fourth on the piano.
Is this system right for me?
This is not a system for people who don't love to learn. This is gonna take some thought. But the good news is, I've done a lot of the work for you, in my book "How to Speed Read Piano Chord Symbols", and the follow-up books in my series. Yes, you're gonna have to practice. But if you're interested in sounding great at the piano, without years of traditional instruction, this might just be your shortcut!
Why is this system different than others on the net?
It is not a chord dictionary method.
You will be required to do a little thinking.
You will memorize a few formulas for chords and then learn to move them up and down the piano. You will not memorize every chord
To show you mathematically, why you would want to memorize chord formulas over chords, consider the following:
There are 88 piano keys on a standard piano. They are actually made up of 12 keys repeated eight times. If you can learn just four flavors of chords and apply them to the twelve notes, you'll suddenly be able to play 48 different chords, even though, you and I (though not your audience) will know it's really only four different flavors of chords!
After you learn to change the order of the notes in the chord, you'll be able to move them up and down the keyboard, now able to play hundreds of different "voicings", that is different positions for chords.
